The main selling point for me for this very expensive casserole was the 12 year warranty that accompanied this product. I expected the Siligran coating to last. It did not. Four months after I began using this casserole, the coating developed whitish stains. Although disappointing, I did not think this was a big deal. After all, the casserole will be covered by the warranty for years to come. This is when my struggle began.If you're just interested in the short version of the story, it's next to impossible to get Silit to fix or replace items under the warranty.And here is the long version: I've now been trying to get Silit to honor their 12 year warranty for five months. It took numerous emails and tracking people down just to get them to open a claim. As soon as someone would start working on my claim, they would suddenly disappear, and I would have to press on for someone else at Silit to take up my claim. Finally, after months of pressing them, they forwarded my claim to a third party company that handles warranty claims for Silit in the US. And... nothing happened. I kept waiting and waiting, but never received a call from them. Eventually I called them myself. They assured me that the marks on my pot are simply residue buildup that is "normal", although I never saw this kind of buildup on any of my other pots and pans. (I only use water filtered through reverse osmosis for cooking, so there is no way I could have gotten mineral buildup on my cookware.) They told me that they will mail out a special cleaning agent that should get the stains off and that I should get a package from them within three weeks. I was skeptical, since I already tried everything I could think of to wash off the stains, but I figured I had nothing to lose and agreed to try out their miracle solution. It's now been over a month, and needless to say, I never received any package. Two days ago I called them up to see if they mailed out the cleaning solution that was supposed to fix my problem, and the gentleman I talked to promised he would look into it and call me back within 20 minutes. Never happened. It's now been about five months that I've been trying to get this item either fixed or replaced under the warranty. At this price range, I would expect a durable product, and I would certainly expect competent customer service. Unfortunately, when it comes to Silit, neither is true. This item gets two stars because it did perform well while it lasted.
