5Spectacular Cocotte and Unique Color (Pesto)
By Lawrence
This past weekend I was forced to cook chili, beans, and bread in a Le Creuset 7 1/4 quart cocotte and the experience was just not the same. Staub's black interior creates a perfectly golden brown crust on my bread and the metal knob means I do not need to cover it in aluminium foil when baking it in a 500 degree oven. The white interior on the Le Creuset cocotte always leaves an uneven crust color on my loaves. When cooking the beans and chili I had to remain near the cocotte because the thinner layer of iron on the Le Creuset cocotte leads to more sticking and burning than in my Staub cocotte.Give Staub a try. I bet if you get one without any chips in the enamelling, you will never go back to Le Creuset.
